Introduction

The future is here. While many still think of content exclusively in terms of long-form articles and blog posts, the world has since moved on to a wide variety of content types, including videos, infographics, emails, tweets, TikToks and more. The days when an email marketer could just bang out a quick article or post every morning are long gone. That’s why it’s as important as ever to understand how the world of marketing is changing—and what you can do to keep up with it. Here are five ways you can adapt your strategy so that your business continues to thrive in the years ahead:

Advice for Creating Winning Content in the Near Future

The first step in creating winning content is to use data to inform your decisions.

  • Use data to measure the success of your content.
  • Use data to inform your content creation process.
  • Use data to inform your distribution process (for example, when and how often should you push new posts out on social media).
  • Use data as a way of measuring the effectivity of your marketing efforts (for example, does using this type of advertising lead more people back into my blog?).

Tip #1: Work to publish content at least once a day.

It’s important to publish content on a regular basis. A daily schedule is ideal, but if you’re just starting out with your blog, it’s okay to start small and build up from there. The important thing is that you’re publishing consistently—even if it’s just once a week or every other day.

Publishing on a consistent schedule will help you build momentum in your niche by establishing yourself as an authority figure who offers valuable advice or information to readers. It also gives them something to look forward to when they visit your site—and this can lead them back again!

Tip #2: Focus on video content.

Video content is the future of content marketing. And you can’t get more future-proof than that. Video is the most popular, shared and engaging type of online content—and it’s also the most effective and lucrative for brands.

According to statistics from Facebook and YouTube, video accounts for 70 percent of all mobile traffic, which means people are watching videos more now than ever before. In fact, according to a recent study by Cisco Systems Inc., by 2022 there will be 200 million new internet users worldwide—and 85 percent of them will be accessing the web through mobile devices like smartphones or tablets instead of computers!

That’s why we’re seeing a significant shift toward video across all platforms: Facebook has doubled its number of daily views since 2017; Instagram Stories now has over 250 million daily active users; Snapchat has over 150 million daily active users; Twitter also saw an increase in video views this year (from 6 billion per day back in 2018).

Tip #3: Don’t be afraid of new content formats.

One of the best ways you can make your content stand out in 2022 is by incorporating different types of content. The same way that a newspaper will use images, infographics and videos to tell stories, you should also be mixing up what type of media you’re using.

Some ideas:

  • Use video if your audience is visual learners
  • Create an interactive quiz or poll for those who enjoy learning by doing
  • Create some kind of interactive experience (like a game) for those who prefer to be challenged or entertained

The key here is that different types of people have different preferences when it comes to how they like to consume information. For example: If someone likes watching videos on YouTube but hates reading long blog posts on Medium then it makes sense for them not only watch but subscribe as well!

Tip #4: Resist traditional thinking that’s hard to break.

Challenge yourself to see things differently and put new processes in place for your team. For example, if you’re used to having an editorial calendar, try creating one for social media instead. If you’ve always set aside time for brainstorming at the beginning of each project, try starting with a quick brainstorm on the spot with your team members before they leave the room (and make sure they don’t forget their ideas!).

Tip #5: Use data, but not too much.

Data is a powerful tool, but it can also be dangerous if you use it too much.

It’s true that data should inform content decisions and strategy. You should have data at your fingertips so that you can make informed decisions about what to create and how to create it.

It’s also important to understand which channels work best for each type of content in order to reach your target audience with greater efficiency. But there are many other factors involved here: creativity, intuition, experience with the subject matter at hand…

In short, we mustn’t forget that there are many different ways to approach this problem—and they’re not all going to be backed by hard data!

Conclusion

The future of content is always changing, as technology advances and users’ expectations shift. This means that marketers must remain agile in order to create winning content, whether it’s a blog post or an original video series. The tips outlined here can help you adapt your own content strategy for the future, so get out there and make 2022 your year!
